RELIABILITY: Check for worn or damaged rear shock absorbers on Estates; overheating; slipping or noisy automatic gearbox; whining differential or gearbox; faulty oil pump; blown head gasket; smoky engines on Turbo and Turbo Diesel models; minor electrical faults (e.g. window lifts).
HISTORY: SEP 1990 Catalytic converter standard on all models.
JAN 1991 All models have power assisted steering, front and rear disc brakes standard, 5-speed manual or 4-speed with overdrive or 4-speed automatic transmission, cloth trim, central locking, front seat lumbar support, headlamp wash/wipers on base model GL. GLE adds tinted glass, metallic paint and electric mirrors.
COMMENTS: Styling is transatlantic and has dated badly but the interior is very spacious - the load area is six feet long with the rear seats folded. Handling is a bit vague, the smaller engines are not very refined and all except the turbo-diesels are thirsty.
